Charity Instead of Christmas Treats
We are all very aware at this time of year, how difficult life can be for some families both in this country and in the developing world.  At the end of last term, Year 6 pupils and teachers decided to make a charitable donation instead of Christmas treats.  We visited websites such as World Vision and Oxfam and our four classes voted on how the money should be spent.  This encouraged debate on the importance of some things which we take for granted.

This is what we purchased:

HB13     A goat

HB14     Safe water for 10 people

HB15     Fixed a well

HB16     Support for a child’s education and for mums and babies

We are all very proud of the mature way the children were able to discuss and question important topics.

500 Word Story Competition
Loughton School participated in a 500 Word Story Competition in February.  Within each year group, we found our own class winners to go forward to two overall year group winners.  Our Year 6 pupils submitted some fantastic entries and as a year group staff, we were amazed with both the response from the children and the quality of their work.  A fantastic effort from all those in Year 6 that entered, the Year 6 team were very impressed with all the entries.  A big congratulations to our Year 6 overall winners:

Eleanor H HB14
Ayman H HB15
