The Peak District by Claire and Emma

Monday

Mining in The PeaksOn Monday 9 June , half of Year 5 went to the Peak District. At first we went on a long coach journey to Matlock Mining Museum, in Derbyshire. We learnt many things about Limestone and other rocks such as:- Lead, Floorspa, Floorite and others. We climbed long tunnels to have the experience of exploring mines. One child had an injury and was sent to the hospital but fortunately he was fine after a couple of hours. Soon we headed for Youlgrave where we were staying.

We unpacked and were introduced to our diarys that we wrote in every day. Not long after that we headed to bed.

Tuesday

The next morning after breakfast we went on another coach, to Treak Cliff Cavern. We walked through the mine and discovered all about BleuJaune. BleuJaune is a priceless type of rock only found in that very mine. It was made by ink running into the crstals turning them blue and yellow, this is where it got it's name. It was found by the French this is why it is called BleuJaune and not blue yellow. The English miners called it bluejohn because they couldnt say Bleujaune properly. There was a great shop which everyone enjoyed.

Wednesday

Today everyone went on a 10 mile walk through Lathkill Dale. We learnt all about birds, bugs and rocks. Also we learnt about fossils. They had a great moto - leave only footprints, take only photographs. We had lunch on a hill, some of the boys climbed up them. Yet again there was another injury, only this time they tripped on a rock. As well as the walk being fun it was also tiring. We walked back to Youlgrave and ended our day.

Thursday

On Thursday, we all took a coach to the bike hire centre and hired out bikes. We then cycled alongway including two breaks. After cycling about six and three quarter miles we had lunch. Around 20 minutes later we headed back down the same route. Once we arrived back at the bike hire centre we each bought an icecream and then went home. This was another tiring day.

Dressing up at Haddon Hall Friday

Today we all went to Haddon hall. We all dressed up and explored Haddon Hall. the kitchen was very smelly and many people held their noses! After having lunch we set home to Milton Keynes. During the way back everyone was raring to see their families. Finally we saw our school and everyone gave a huge cheer. Clowning around at Haddon Hall

Everyone had a fantastic time

Thankyou to all the teachers and parent helpers

The Peak District by Tom and Levi

The Peak District was amazing because each day we learnt over 3 facts during each day. We also enjoyed doing the bike ride for 13miles, at first the bikes were quite hard to ride but we got used to it, it was great fun. We got split into 3 group which made the bike ride easier.

The room had very funny names the funniest rooms were ladies and gents undies.

Overall the peaks trip has been the best ever school trip
