There are several things planned for our children to ensure the day is one to be remembered for years to come:

Non-uniform day: pick a decade of Queen Elizabeth’s Reign

We ask that all children come to school dressed in attire that fits into one of the decades in which she has reigned over. Think back over the 50s, 60s, 70s 80s, 90s and 00s to help inspire your child to channel their inner dressing thoughts! A competition for the best dressed homemade outfits, judged by our governors, will be held. Children will have the opportunity to win a prize their whole family can enjoy. Think unique, original yet fun when planning your child’s outfits.

Family picnic – everyone welcome

We invite all families to join us for a family picnic on the field to celebrate the Jubilee. On this day, all children will need to bring a packed lunch, or order the packed lunch option from Chartwells. Lunch will commence at 12.15pm for all at Loughton School and we ask that children bring a picnic to share with their friends and families. If you are joining us, please come through the front gate on Bradwell Road and you will be guided to the field to join your child for the picnic. There will be plenty of time for you to enjoy all that you bring and see the decorations your children have made to commemorate the Jubilee. The picnic will end at 1pm so that that the children can have time to play before we get them ready for their afternoon activities.

Other exciting plans for the children on this day

All classes have been given a new book about Queen Elizabeth as a class reader. There will be a house competition set for the children about what they learn about her and her reign. Attached to this letter you will see more details about the homework we have set the children so that we are able to decorate our school on the day. There will be art activities the children can enjoy and the school council will also have an especially important job of judging a staff competition! Finally, we plan to plant a new ‘Queen Elizabeth’ rose outside of our year 4 classrooms to commemorate this special day.
