OAA days

Each year group have now had their OAA (outdoor adventurous activities) day. Please read all about them here.

Year 3

Wow, what an amazing time Year 3 had for their outside adventurous activities day. Just some of the activities included: den building, camp cooking, treasure hunts and making fires. The days are designed to draw out key skills from the children including communication, trust, independence, leadership and teamwork.

The children behaved exceptionally, listening to instructions, each other’s ideas and really throwing themselves into the activities. We were very proud of them.

Year 4

The children have taken part in a number of active team building activities on their OAA day, including solving logical problems whilst getting to know each other better. They have even had the chance to take on the hugely popular inflatable 'terminator'. Some of the staff even took part and had a race against each other too!

At the end of the day, all the children were competing in the matrix race, which was won by HB7 - well done! The children (and staff) thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor learning day. What a great start to the year!

Years 5 and 6

Friday 20th September saw a close to our week of residentials and focused learning. The year 5 and 6 children that did not travel to Germany, Kingswood or Caldecotte celebrated this with an OAA day on the school field.

During this day they took part in 8 different outdoor activities. These included, archery, a large inflatable obstacle course, rock climbing and ball and team building games. All of the children had a chance to encounter each activity and did so with enthusiasm and enjoyment. Some even overcame their fears (on the climbing wall in particular).

The day was very successful with all children behaving beautifully and taking all they could from each activity. With the beautiful sunshine and the excited atmosphere, a wonderful day was had by all.
