Musical Instrument Making Day

To finish our topic on sound, Year 4 designed and made their own musical instruments. Each child could make either a drum, some maracas, a guitar or some panpipes. They used their DT skills along with all their knowledge of sound to produce some amazing instruments. It was a fantastic day. Here are some of the comments made by the children:

‘When I went home, my Mum thought that my guitar looked excellent.’

‘I was making a panpipe so I had to saw the bamboo into 5 pieces and stick them in a scale.’

‘To make our drumsticks we used a saw. It didn’t take very long to cut through the wood.’

‘When all my hard work came together, my instrument made a brilliant sound.’
