Loughton School

Extra-Curricular Clubs

At Loughton School we are delighted, with the goodwill of our staff, to offer your child a wide range of clubs.

We hosted 28 various clubs during the Autumn term including a range of themes such as lego and construction, board games, netball, British sign language, outdoor learning and even comic club. We are just as thrilled to be able to offer 30 clubs during the spring term including sewing/needlework, ICT, a range of languages, choir, tag rugby and film club. I am predicting that one of our new morning clubs ‘Life skills you need to know before you’re 10 ½’ (available for all year groups) will be hugely popular.

Our aim is that all children will try a club that interests them at least once each year. Our student voice are important in telling staff the sort of clubs which children wish to see and we actively listen to their suggestions. Last academic year we even tried archery, tri-golf, Zumba and ultimate Frisbee on the children’s recommendation!

If as a parent/carer you wish to get involved in the extra-curricular provision at Loughton School, just let your child’s class teacher know!

We actively encourage sporting activities, both team and individual, throughout the school. These have included athletics, country dancing, cross-country running, gymnastics, hockey, netball, soccer and tag rugby.  Our cross-country, football, hockey and netball teams have been particularly successful, and have often won Milton Keynes Schools competitions.

Whenever possible we enter school teams in local competitions, arrange friendly matches and extend our pupils’ experiences.  Our hockey team has enjoyed the opportunity to play matches in the National Hockey Stadium.  We have also established links with local sports clubs such as Bletchley Rugby Club, Loughton & TMA Football Clubs, Milton Keynes Athletics Club and Milton Keynes Hockey Club.

We have extensive facilities for music, dance and drama, with regular productions which are enjoyed by all.  In 2017, over 60 of our children performed in a concert at the NEC in Birmingham.  Our  choir and groups of musicians have performed in Middleton Hall and at MK Theatre, in the heart of Milton Keynes and have taken part in the Milton Keynes Festival of Arts and numerous other events and competitions.  There are also opportunities for pupils to develop skills in art, ICT and mathematics at our other after-school clubs.

“Great sound and very good dynamics. Excellent ensemble and stonking trumpets!”
