Reading

With summer hot on our heels and the chance to enjoy being outside more, we want to encourage the children to keep reading.

As the weather gets warmer, we anticipate the children spending more time outdoors. This can be a time when reading slumps, but we are encouraging all the children to keep on reading. They could choose to create a reading spot outside in their gardens or on their balconies. To find a cosy spot in the sunshine where they can enjoy the fresh air in a calm and peaceful manner. It is also an ideal way to wind down after a busy day of play and adventures.

With so many new books being released, why not take a walk to your local library to peruse the new titles. Likewise, charity shops are a treasure trove of hidden gems waiting to be picked up for less than £1. As always, our school library is full and ready to entice all book tastes and all classrooms have a wealth of additional books the children can borrow. Maybe this summer you might be inspired to try something new. It is a great time to try a new hobby, sport or maybe a different genre. There are a number of books out there ready to entice you and teach you.

Read a few adventure stories? Why not try a mystery? Stuck on one author? Why not try someone new?

Use this site to help you and your child discover a range of different books.
