This week, Year 5 have completed their very first piece of independent writing of the year, inspired by the Pixar animation The Blue Umbrella. The children have worked incredibly hard to bring the story to life through their own words, focusing on description, emotion and atmosphere.

We have been so impressed with the effort, imagination and creativity shown in their class work. From beautifully crafted sentences to thoughtful vocabulary choices, the children have really demonstrated what fantastic writers they are becoming.

It has been a joy to see how engaged everyone has been in the process, and we are very excited to read through their final pieces in more detail. Well done, Year 5 – what a wonderful start to your writing journey this term!
