Remembrance Day 2025

On 11th November and in the days leading up to it, our Year Six students thought about the significance of Remembrance Day. This special occasion gave us the opportunity to pause and remember the bravery and sacrifices made by those who served in wars and conflicts to protect our freedoms.
In our PSHE lessons, we read about the gardens of Heligan in Cornwall in the book "A Song for Will" which contains the letters written between friends and details the loss of the village men during the First World War. We also reminded ourselves of the symbolism of the poppy: hope and remembrance.
At 11:00 a.m., the entire school observed a two-minute silence, creating a powerful moment of unity and respect. Year Six students also created beautiful artwork and written pieces inspired by the theme of remembrance, which are now displayed in our year group area for everyone to appreciate. Thank you also to the children in HB16 who made this beautiful wreath (see photo above).
This day was not only about looking back but also about learning lessons for the future—understanding the value of kindness, empathy, and working together for a peaceful world.
We are incredibly proud of Year Six for their maturity and heartfelt contributions to this important day.
