Year 4 Pizza Making Workshop!
This week, Year 4 had the amazing opportunity to take part in a pizza-making workshop, and it was definitely an experience to remember! We were incredibly grateful that Mr. Hobbs was able to join us and guide us through the process of creating the perfect pizza from scratch.
Right from the start, Mr. Hobbs showed us everything we’ll need to do when we make our own pizzas in a couple of weeks. He began by demonstrating how to prepare a rich, flavourful tomato sauce—simple ingredients, but full of aroma and colour. Then came the part many of us were most excited about: learning how to stretch the pizza dough. We learnt the technique behind achieving that perfect, even base.
Once our dough was shaped, it was time to put the pizzas together. Mr. Hobbs walked us through the layering of sauce, cheese, and toppings, explaining how each step contributes to the final taste and texture. As we watched him work, everything started to make sense—creating a pizza truly is an art!
One of the most surprising parts of the session was the interesting chemistry facts we learnt along the way. From the role yeast plays in making the dough rise to the science behind browning and melting cheese, we got to see the delicious connection between cooking and chemistry.
The entire workshop was incredibly engaging. Everyone was focused, curious, and excited to try the techniques for themselves. By the end, we all left with new skills, new knowledge, and a newfound appreciation for the science and craft behind a perfect pizza.
A huge thank you to Mr. Hobbs for sharing his time and expertise with us. We can’t wait to put everything we learnt into practice!
