Year 5 Engineers Blast Off with Motor-Powered Moon Buggy Challenge!

As part of an action-packed STEM Week, Year 5 took on an exciting engineering challenge exploring forces, motion and creative design.
This week, Year 5 stepped into the role of engineers as they investigated, designed and constructed their very own motor-powered Moon Buggies. Using a motorised pulley system, the children applied their understanding of forces and mechanisms to bring their creative designs to life.
Once built, the real excitement began. The children thoroughly enjoyed testing their buggies, collecting ‘Moon rock’ samples (delicious chocolates!) along the way. They also explored how different surfaces affected their buggy’s performance, using the opportunity to investigate friction in a hands-on and memorable way.
It was a fantastic week of problem-solving, experimentation and discovery - well done, Year 5!
