To kick off the Spring Term, year 5 immersed themselves in Michael Morpurgo’s retelling of Beowulf. Through guided reading sessions, the children explored this classic tale while developing their comprehension skills and drawing inspiration for their own quest stories in English.

In Theme lessons, pupils were introduced to their new topic on the Anglo-Saxons. Building on their prior learning about the Romans in Year 4, they investigated the reasons behind the Anglo-Saxon arrival in Britain and explored what life was like in Anglo-Saxon settlements.
