Year 5 Firefighter Visit An Exciting Learning Experience

Year 5 students recently enjoyed an unforgettable visit from local firefighters, turning their Fridays into days of discovery and excitement. On Friday, February 9th, students in HB12 and HB11 welcomed the firefighters, while HB10 and HB9 had their turn on Friday, February 16th. These visits offered a unique, hands-on opportunity for children to learn about fire safety and the important work of our community heroes.
Engaging Activities and Interactive Learning
The firefighters began their visit with an engaging talk, sharing valuable insights about their roles and the importance of fire safety. Students were thrilled to look at parts of the firefighters’ uniform, giving them a real sense of what it’s like to be on the front lines. The children also had the chance to see a heat radar machine, learning how technology helps firefighters in emergencies.
To reinforce their learning, each child received a workbook filled with activities and information about fire safety. This resource will help them remember key lessons and share their new knowledge with family and friends.
Exploring the Fire Engine
One of the highlights of the visit was a guided tour of the fire engine. The firefighters patiently explained the purpose of each piece of equipment, from hoses and ladders to specialised rescue tools. Students were fascinated by the range of gear and the stories behind each item, deepening their appreciation for the skills and bravery required in firefighting.
