Exploring French Towns

Our Year 6 pupils have been developing their French vocabulary by learning all about towns and places of interest. They explored the names of common buildings you might find in a French town, such as le supermarché (supermarket), la bibliothèque (library), la boulangerie (bakery) and la charcuterie (delicatessen).

The children practised their speaking and writing skills by describing different places in town and discussing what you can buy in each shop. They learned to name a range of items, including food, and match them to the correct location.

To bring their learning to life, the class applied their knowledge in a creative project. Working carefully and collaboratively, the pupils designed and built their own miniature towns out of paper. They labelled each building in French and added items for sale in the shop windows, such as le pain, les légumes and le fromage.

It was wonderful to see the children using their French confidently and creatively. Well done, Year 6!
