The Holi Festival

Holi, a major Hindu festival, symbolises the victory of good over evil and celebrates the love between Lord Krishna and Radha. This year it was celebrated on March 4th.
In year 4, we have been looking at the festival of Holi as part of our, Hinduism/India topic this term. We have learnt about it on our Hindu temple visit, watched videos and read about it.
On Friday, the whole school experienced one of the traditions of this festival. It is also known as the festival of colour. Hence, we held our own colour run on the school field. The children were buzzing with excitement as they stood ready to run around four stations and, at each station, dance as they were showered with coloured powder paint. They were a picture by the end! There was blue, yellow, green and red paint splattered in all their hair, on their skin, all over their clothes – some even had coloured teeth! Their shrieks of joy and laughter could be heard and the smiles on their faces showed their enjoyment.
