A carriage fit for a king!

There’s been a real buzz of creativity in Year 3 lately, and we just had to share what the children have been up to. As part of their recent theme work on ‘Kings and Queens’, the class took on the exciting challenge of designing and building their very own royal carriages—and the results were fantastic.
The children started by thinking carefully about their designs. They sketched out ideas, discussed what makes a carriage both strong and eye-catching, and planned how they would bring their creations to life.
Once the designs were ready, it was time to get hands-on. The classroom quickly turned into a mini workshop! The children practised important skills like measuring their materials accurately, carefully sawing pieces to size, and using glue to assemble their structures. They showed impressive focus and determination, especially when things didn’t go quite to plan at first.
What really stood out was the teamwork. The children worked brilliantly together—sharing ideas, helping each other solve problems, and encouraging one another along the way. It was lovely to see such positive collaboration.
Of course, no royal carriage would be complete without decoration! The children had a wonderful time adding their own creative touches, from colourful patterns to intricate details. Each carriage ended up completely unique, reflecting the personality and effort of its creators.
We are so proud of the resilience, creativity, and cooperation shown by Year 3 throughout this project. If you get the chance, do ask your child about their carriage—they’ll be delighted to tell you all about it!
Well done, Year 3!
