Eco Champions
Eco Champions (led by Mrs Holliday)

Being an Eco Champion is a fantastic opportunity for children to lead the way in helping our school become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Eco Champions will encourage everyone to make small changes that add up to a big difference, such as turning off lights, recycling carefully and reducing waste. They will also take an active role in looking after our school environment by litter picking, caring for the courtyard and supporting projects that protect nature. The work of the Eco Champions will feed into our school’s sustainability action plan and play a vital part in helping us work towards a greener future. To be successful, children will need to be respectful of our environment, independent in taking action, creative in thinking of new ways to be eco-friendly and resilient in reminding others about their responsibilities. Above all, Eco Champions should be inspired to make positive changes that protect our planet for the future.
Our 2025 Eco Champions are:
Year 3: Laith, Oscar, Lewis, Matilda
Year 4: Mrudini, Samara, Olivia, Preston
Year 5: Maya, Jullian, Noa, Dominikas
Year 6: Navyaa, Ella, DJ
Spring term update
Our ECO Group has been busy this term and we wanted to share some of the fantastic things they’ve been getting up to!
We started off by rolling up our sleeves for a litter pick around the school field. The children were brilliant. They worked together to make sure our grounds are clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We couldn’t believe how full the bins bags were on our return into school!
Next, the group turned their attention to our courtyard area. With a bit of teamwork (and a lot of enthusiasm!), they helped tidy and refresh the space so it’s a nicer place to relax. This involved sweeping up the wood chip, pulling out weeds and tidying up the games box.
One of the highlights of the term was when the ECO Group led an assembly. They spoke confidently about how we can all help look after our school environment - simple things like turning off lights when we leave a room and making sure we use the correct bins. They did a fantastic job spreading their message!
To help remind everyone, the children designed some eye-catching posters, which you may have spotted around school. These are already making a difference and the group even carried out a classroom audit to see how well everyone is doing. It’s great to see so many classes getting involved and making positive changes.
In the final week of term, we took our learning outdoors. The children used their photography skills to capture “signs of spring” in our sensory garden. From budding flowers to fresh greenery, they found lots of lovely reminders that the seasons are changing.
We’re incredibly proud of the ECO Group and their efforts this term. They’ve shown real commitment to making our school a better, greener place and we’re excited to see what they’ll do next!
