Gender Stereotypes Workshop
Keep checking back weekly to find out about what the children have been up to in year 6.
Gender Stereotypes Workshop
A week learning about the Mayan civilisation from a jungle explorer and an introduction to programming with Micro:bits.
On our excursion to MK library, the children did us proud! It was so lovely to be out of school after such an intense week the week before. We enjoyed the nice weather and had the opportunity to have a chat and relax a little bit.
A week full of achievement.
Who were the Mayans?
This week, the children have been introduced to the topic of the Mayans and their civilisations. They have also started to look at artefacts from this period of history. It would be great if you could show an interest in their learning and ask them what they have learnt so far and perhaps quiz them on their knowledge.
This week the children kicked off their new theme unit on the Maya by making traditional Mayan-style hot chocolate from roasted cacao beans.
We certainly do!
This week the children have returned to school enthused about our new theme: The Americas. In English, at the beginning of the week, the children took on either the role of a travel agent or the role of a customer who was looking to book a holiday to Saint Lucia. Children in both roles learnt lots about the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia whilst having lots of fun.
This spring term, year 6 were asked to complete a spring bingo challenge. There were a number of homework ideas they could choose that were worth a set amount of points per activity. They had to complete enough challenges that warranted 60 points.
This week, the children in year 6 have been learning all about blogging.
After becoming biome experts last week, our year 6s have been showing off their knowledge by turning their recent research into a class display.
Do you know what subject biomes come under? Do you know what biomes are? Do you know how many there are? Could you locate them on a world map?
These are just some of the questions the children have been asked in their geography lessons over the last couple of weeks.
Year 6 had a great time celebrating World Book Day!
