Year 6 Safety Talk
Gender Stereotypes Workshop
This week, year 6 had the pleasure of hosting a presentation from Hazard Alley, focusing on the important topic of gender stereotypes. The children were highly engaged and actively participated in class discussions, exploring the various gender stereotypes that permeate everyday life. The session proved to be exceptionally informative, shedding light on the stereotypes associated with toys marketed towards boys and girls, as well as the portrayal of male and female characters in children's television shows.
Moreover, the discussion extended to societal perceptions of gender roles in the workplace. Through interactive activities, the students were encouraged to think critically about the implications of these stereotypes and their prevalence in modern society. This enlightening experience not only broadened their understanding but also fostered an environment in which they could express their thoughts and challenge traditional norms. We are grateful to Hazard Alley for their invaluable contribution to our students' education on this crucial subject.
