On Monday and Thursday of last week, Year 5 classes HB11, HB12, HB9, and HB10 embarked on an educational excursion to the Space Centre in Leicester. The children experienced an exhilarating coach ride, filled with anticipation for the day ahead. Upon arrival, they were greeted by a plethora of exciting and interactive exhibitions that captured their imaginations.

Throughout the visit, students had the opportunity to observe numerous objects that have been retrieved from space, including a remarkable piece of moon rock. This tangible connection to space exploration profoundly engaged the children, fostering a deeper understanding of the universe. • Year 5 Explores Rock Music This Half Term

    Published 17/10/25, by Year Leaders

This half term, our Year 5 students have been immersed in the exhilarating world of rock music during their music lessons. Focused on the iconic track "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, pupils have not only engaged in listening activities but also participated in collaborative performances that encompass a variety of musical skills.

In addition to Bon Jovi, students have been introduced to legendary bands such as Queen and Status Quo, broadening their appreciation for the genre. By playing the glockenspiel alongside the music, children have developed their rhythmic abilities and musical awareness, enjoying the challenge of synchronising their playing with the vibrant melodies.

Moreover, our sessions have involved learning to sing "Livin' on a Prayer," fostering both vocal skills and confidence in performance. This engaging approach has allowed students to immerse themselves in the dynamic characteristics of rock music, encouraging creativity and teamwork. We look forward to celebrating their progress as they continue this musical journey.
