Dissolving detectives in year 5!

This week, year 5 have been busy exploring what happens when different materials dissolve, as part of their Theme topic Properties and Changes of Materials.

Working together in small groups, the children carried out a practical investigation to answer the question, “Which solids dissolve?” They planned their tests carefully, thinking about how to keep their experiment fair and what they needed to observe.

We were so impressed by their teamwork, their careful use of equipment, and the fantastic scientific vocabulary they used to explain what they noticed. The children showed real curiosity and enthusiasm throughout their experiments!

Next, Year 5 will be using what they’ve learnt to make predictions and plan another fair test of their own, exploring dissolving even further. We can’t wait to see what new discoveries they make!
