This half-term, Year 5 have made an incredible start to their writing journey! We began the year with our first assessed piece — a narrative inspired by Pixar’s beautiful short film The Blue Umbrella. The children worked hard to capture emotion, atmosphere and description, producing some truly impressive stories that brought the umbrellas’ rainy adventure to life.

More recently, our writing has taken us deep into the rainforest, where we’ve been exploring the Greenpeace campaign There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom. The children created powerful and imaginative poems that not only showcased their creativity and sense of rhythm but also reflected their growing awareness of environmental issues.

It was a mixture of these two pieces that were selected by class teachers to be showcased in our assembly and in our writing corridor. 

We are so proud of how much thought, care and effort Year 5 have put into their writing so far.
