Today, Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic visit from The Parks Trust, who came in to teach us all about the important work they do around Milton Keynes and teach us how we can care for our environment. The children learned how The Parks Trust helps to look after our local parks, rivers and green spaces — from collecting litter and rubbish to maintaining habitats and keeping our outdoor spaces clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

The session helped us understand just how much care and effort goes into protecting the beautiful environment we have on our doorstep. We discussed how we can all play a part by reducing waste, reusing materials and recycling wherever possible.

This workshop links perfectly to our current topic, ‘The World Around Us’, and our English work on persuasive leaflets, where we are learning to encourage others to make more sustainable choices and help tackle plastic pollution.

The children came away inspired to do their bit to protect our planet — both at school and at home!
