The trip to Nausicaa today was the highlight of the trip for many of us!
The short trip to Boulogne-sur-mer was even more exciting today as we were heading to Nausicaa - the largest aquarium in Europe. The main tank houses 24,000 animals including a giant manta ray (named Charles), a turtle, sharks and so many more. Given freedom to explore in their smaller day groups, the children were enthralled by what they saw. Highlights for us were the sealions, the penguins and the immersive climate change experience.
After lunch and a play in the park, we headed for our last shopping excursion - Auchan, a giant supermarket on the outskirts of Boulogne. Given an hour to search the aisles for last minute gifts and souvenirs of their week in France, we were impressed by the politeness and resourcefulness of our year sixes once more.
Dinner this evening was the traditional French food evening: Quiche Lorraine, Escargots (snails in garlic butter), Poulet Frites, cheese and a chocolate eclair.
We would love to say a huge thank you to the team of people who have made this trip possible. A special thank you to Mrs Ganapathee who has been an awesome addition to the adult team here and also Stuart, our driver, who has patiently coped with all the last minute adjustments to the itinerary!
We are packed and will be ready to leave in the morning. We will be heading to Calais after a stop at a local chocolate factory. See you all soon!
