Shadow hunting!

The year 3 children have been shadow hunting!

As a part of this term's science unit all about Light and Shadow, the children have had the opportunity to become shadow hunters for an afternoon. After they had completed the initial learning, they were given a task to "find" different shadows on our school playground. From this, they were able to decipher that a shadow is formed when a (usually) opaque object blocks the sun's light, therefore casting a shadow on the opposite side of the object. They were then challenged to draw a chalk outline of their partner and as a result of this, we had a playground full of funky outlines from all of the interesting stances the children stood in!
