National Poetry Day

Year 4 created poems focussing on this year's theme: refuge.

To celebrate National Poetry Day, the year 4 children shared and wrote different poems about refuge focussing on Michel Rosen’s poetry.  The children discussed the word refuge and its definition: the state of being safe or sheltered from danger or difficulty. Children then thought about a place, a person or an object where they can take refuge and feel safe. They then created their own poems about refuge.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and were excited to create their own poems. They were inspired by the stimulus provided by Michael Rosen and used their own creativity to write their own poems. Here are some examples from our talented poets.
