Careers Fayre
This week Year 5...
Loughton School was very pleased and proud to host our third annual careers fayre, giving our year 5 children the opportunity to meet with adults from a wide range of different occupations. The afternoon supported the learning that children had been doing in their theme lessons (‘All about me’), researching different careers and considering their futures.
The children gathered in the hall to be introduced to our visitors. Each visitor had brought an object with them associated with their occupation. The children played a guessing game where, after asking three questions, they had to correctly guess the occupation: it was close, but the children were victorious!
Afterwards, the children had the opportunity to move around our classrooms in order to talk in more detail with the adults and extend their knowledge about different careers. Everyone was impressed by the thoughtful questions asked by the children and by how well-behaved they were.
The children were very enthusiastic and enjoyed the afternoon. “It was so kind of the adults to take time out of their day to come and see us,” commented Elliot (HB11). Olivia (HB10) said, “I thought the biomedical scientist was very interesting.”
Thanks once more to all of our adult volunteers that made the afternoon possible and such a success!
