New club coming soon for September 2019...
Ready, set, glow! with 'CLUBBERCISE' after school club on a Wednesday 3:15-4:15pm. This fantastic, new fitness club will be run by returning qualified fitness instructor Rain Fitzpatrick and is a great way for children to have fun whilst being active. This club will be available for children in years 5 and 6 for the Autumn term and spaces are limited to 30 so keep an eye out for our clubs list coming to you in early September. Our intention is to repeat the club for children in years 3 and 4 during the Spring term.
To cover costs to the school, CLUBBERCISE will cost £2 per session (or £22 for 11 sessions throughout the term) made payable in advance. Please note that if your child cannot attend a session due to illness, no refund will be made due to being unable to fill their space last minute and therefore cover our costs. If your child is in receipt of the pupil premium, a 25% reduction in fees will apply and you will be charged £1.50 per session (or £16.50 for 11 sessions throughout the term).
At Loughton School we are proud to offer a truly extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities for your child. Our aim is that all children will try a club that interests them at least once each year. Our student voice are important in telling staff the sort of clubs which children wish to see and we actively listen to their suggestions.
In 2018-19, we provided, with the goodwill of our staff, around 30 clubs per term totalling 94 over the course of the academic year. By the end of the year, 373 of our children (78%) had attended at least one club at some point. The majority attended clubs every term.

In addition to the clubs run by Loughton School staff on site, there are limited spaces for 50 of our 120 year 6 children (42%) to attend an extra-curricular club ‘children’s university’ hosted at Denbigh School. These figures are in addition to the above.
We actively encourage sporting activities, both team and individual, throughout the school. These have included athletics, country dancing, cross-country running, gymnastics, hockey, netball, soccer and tag rugby. Our cross-country, football, hockey and netball teams have been particularly successful, and have often won at Milton Keynes Schools competitions.
Whenever possible we enter school teams in local competitions, arrange friendly matches and extend our pupils’ experiences. Our hockey team has enjoyed the opportunity to play matches in the National Hockey Stadium. We have also established links with local sports clubs such as Bletchley Rugby Club, Loughton & TMA Football Clubs, Milton Keynes Athletics Club and Milton Keynes Hockey Club.
We have extensive facilities for music, dance and drama, with regular productions which are enjoyed by all. We often are part of the Shakespeare festivals and our children superbly performed ‘Macbeth’ this academic year. In 2019, over 60 member of our choir performed at the Young Voices concert at the NEC in Birmingham. The choir and other groups of musicians have also previously performed in Middleton Hall and at MK Theatre, in the heart of Milton Keynes and have taken part in the Milton Keynes Festival of Arts and numerous other events and competitions.
As well as celebrating sports and the arts, there are also plenty of opportunities for pupils to develop skills in many other areas such as languages, ICT, sewing and mathematics at our other after-school clubs. Junior Park Rangers outdoor learning club was new this year and one of their many successes was working with the local community to reseed the Millennium Meadow.
“Great sound and very good dynamics. Excellent ensemble and stonking trumpets!”
