Year 3 enjoyed a Science workshop where they learnt all about light. We talked about refraction and tried on some special refraction glasses that turned everything into rainbows! We explored UV light and investigated which objects glow under UV light. We learnt about how money is tested with UV lights and even checked some money to see if it was real. We finished our sessions by making a UV bracelet that changes colour in the sun and were very excited to go outside to test them!
This afternoon, all together, we had an exciting assembly all about bubbles! We learnt about chemical reactions and how they can create bubbles. Everyone enjoyed being scientists for the day!
On Friday 8 May the year 3 pupils found out about the end of World War II which took place on the 8th May 1945. The children discovered that the Allied Countries including Britain, France and the USA on that day signed the declaration which guaranteed Germany's unconditional surrender.
They listened to extracts of Winston Churchill's speech and saw footage of the huge crowds of people in Trafalgar Square and The Mall who gathered to
Together to celebrate the end of 6 years of war.
They also linked it with their knowledge of Kings & Queens when they saw Princess Elizabeth on the balcony of Buckingham Palace before she went to join the crowds of people to join in the celebrations.
This half term, Year 3 were challenged with a homework project that asked them to create a dragon. There was a brilliant variety of work on display and it was clear the children had all worked extremely hard. Everyone enjoyed touring around the year group seeing what each other had created. It was particularly fantastic to see some of their ideas from our recent English unit on Dragon fact files brought to life.
