The Mayans

This term, our year 6s have been learning about the Mayans.

They have enjoyed making hot chocolate, looking at some artefacts, doing some Maya maths and playing Pok-a-tok - a Maya ball game which was played with a rubber ball weighing 4.5kg!

This week they have consolidated their learning by working in groups to create their own Maya city-state consisting of a temple, a ball court, an observation tower and some houses around the outskirts.  I have been particularly impressed with their team efforts.  What a lovely way to end a half terms worth of work.
