Y4 Habitat Dioramas

This term, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement as the children dived head‑first into the fascinating world of habitats. From the tiniest insects to the mightiest mammals, they explored how living things are grouped and even became young scientists by creating their very own classification keys.

Their curiosity didn’t stop there. The children investigated how animals adapt to survive in their environments — discovering everything from clever camouflage to incredible physical features. They also tackled big ideas, learning how habitats can change over time and how these changes can sometimes put living things at risk. The thoughtful questions they asked (and answered!) showed just how deeply they connected with the topic.

To bring all this learning to life, the children used their new knowledge to design and build dioramas based on an animal and habitat of their choice. The results were nothing short of spectacular. Every single creation showcased imagination, effort, and a real understanding of the natural world. We were genuinely blown away by their creativity, and the children were so proud to share their masterpieces.
