Wild about rainforests!

We’ve had a fantastic start to the year in Year 5 and have already dived into our exciting new theme: rainforests! We have been exploring this through our guided reading text as well as our geography lessons.

We’ve started by finding out what makes rainforests so special and have been exploring the different layers, from the forest floor right up to the emergent layer. The children have enjoyed discovering the incredible plants and animals that live in each part of the rainforest and have been amazed by just how diverse these habitats are.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be learning even more about rainforest habitats, climate, wildlife, indigenous people and the importance of protecting these amazing environments. Our homework is also based around this theme, so we look forward to seeing those finished rainforest projects before the end of the half-term.

The children have already shown lots of curiosity and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see where our rainforest adventure takes us!
