Year 4 have started their new Guided Reading text, Queen of Darkness by Tony Bradman. The novel complements our history learning on the Celts, helping to bring this fascinating period to life through an exciting story.

As we read, pupils will explore the life of Boudicca and learn more about the conflict between the Celts and Romans, while developing key reading skills such as inference, vocabulary and prediction.

The children have already begun discussing the historical setting and making links to their learning in history lessons. Through the novel, they will gain a deeper understanding of Celtic life, beliefs and traditions, helping them to immerse themselves in the topic and make meaningful connections across the curriculum.
