Our Year 3 children have been putting their scientific thinking, creativity and teamwork to the test with a fun and exciting teacake experiment!

As part of our learning about animals (including humans) the children were challenged to work together to design and build a structure that would help keep their precious teacake safe, representing how the skull protects the brain. 

Working in teams, the children used card, straws and wool to create their protective structures. They had to think carefully about how the materials could be used to help protect their teacake. There was plenty of excitement as they carefully placed their teacake inside their structure, ready for the big test!

Then came the moment of truth — the drop test! Each team's structure was tested once to see whether it had successfully protected the teacake.

The activity was a fantastic opportunity for the children to apply their understanding of the skeleton and its role in protecting our organs in a fun, practical way. It also encouraged them to develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving and creative thinking.
