This week, Year 4 visited Bradwell Abbey to find out more about the Romans – our latest history topic!

We created a human timeline to demonstrate how long ago the Romans were here in Britain, experienced handling real Roman artefacts and found out all about Roman soldiers by trying on their armour and holding weapons!

The highlight of the day however, was hosting our own Roman banquet! We were able to take on various roles including body slaves, guests and entertainers, and we had a blast serving up Roman dishes, having gladiator fights and being waited upon by slaves!

All in all, it was a fantastic day and the children came away having learnt so much and are looking forward to learning more!
