On Friday 8 May the year 3 pupils found out about the end of World War II which took place on the 8^th May 1945. The children discovered that the Allied Countries including Britain, France and the USA on that day signed the declaration which guaranteed Germany's unconditional surrender.

They listened to extracts of Winston Churchill's speech and saw footage of the huge crowds of people in Trafalgar Square and The Mall who gathered to 

Together to celebrate the end of 6 years of war.  

They also linked it with their knowledge of Kings & Queens when they saw Princess Elizabeth on the balcony of Buckingham Palace before she went to join the crowds of people to join in the celebrations.
