    • Loughton Music Festival: A Morning of Musical Magic!

      Published 04/07/26

Yesterday was a morning to remember at Loughton School, as parents and carers packed into the school hall to watch our talented peripatetic students take centre stage at the Loughton Music Festival.

From 9.00am to 10.30am, our budding musicians treated the audience to a wonderful showcase of skill and dedication, performing on violin, guitar, trumpet and cello. The turnout from families was fantastic, with the hall full of proud parents cheering on their children's musical achievements.

Each performer had been working hard with their instrumental tutors throughout the term, and it really showed. The range of instruments and styles made for a varied and engaging concert, giving everyone in the audience a real appreciation for the breadth of musical talent we have here at Loughton.

A huge well done to every student who took part — your hard work and confidence on stage made this festival such a success. Thank you also to our peripatetic music teachers for their continued commitment to nurturing these young musicians, and to all the parents and carers who came along to support the children.

We can't wait for the next musical showcase!

    • Loughton School Tees Up Something New: Golf Has Arrived!

      Published 25/06/26

We are thrilled to announce that golf is now part of the sporting offer at Loughton School — and our pupils are already loving it!

Golf remains a relatively rare addition to primary school sports programmes, making this an exciting and progressive step for our school community. At Loughton School, we believe in giving children access to a wide and varied range of physical activities, and golf is a wonderful sport that builds focus, patience, coordination, and confidence.

Our budding golfers have wasted no time getting creative. As part of Golf Club, children have been designing their very own golf courses — bringing imagination and teamwork into the mix from day one.

Whether your child is a complete beginner or already showing an interest in the sport, Golf Club is a fantastic opportunity to try something new and develop skills they can enjoy for a lifetime.

Children from Years 3, 4 and 5 have been busy planting in the courtyard today as part of our summer refresh and we hope that you will agree that they have done a fantastic job! We planted strawberries, herbs, lavender and lots of insect-friendly plants. The children learnt about the different herbs and tried smelling them all. They were particularly keen on the mint, which everyone agreed smelled like toothpaste!

    • Taking Flight by Antonio Pasin

      Published 04/05/26

Taking Flight is a short film inspired by the life and heritage of Antonio Pasin, inventor of the Radio Flyer wagon. It depicts a boy’s adventure that transforms into a larger-than-life journey.

For the last couple of weeks, year 4 have been studying the story of Grandpa Nono and the adventures he takes his grandson, Tony, on – traipsing through a jungle full of monkeys, cascading over a high waterfall down to a fast-flowing river, soaring through the skies, fighting aliens…

The children worked together on creating sentences to retell the story using their most adventurous and exciting vocabulary, descriptive powers and high-level punctuation. Individually, they have been asked to write their own adventures that this unlikely pair of explorers set out on.

Why don’t you watch the film ( Bing Videos ) with your child and then ask them about the adventures that they have described in their stories? Perhaps, you could describe what adventures you could picture them undertaking. Take this opportunity to share both your thoughts, descriptions and let your imaginations run riot.
