    Exploring Science Through Books.

The finalists from the Young People's Book Prize 2025 are now available in the school library.

Our library has six fantastic new science books ready for children to enjoy in the new school year. These titles were all shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize 2025 and were reviewed by our Year 5 reading panel.

The panel thoroughly enjoyed reading and discussing each book. Their favourite was The Rocks Book by Nancy Dickmann, which impressed them with its incredible photographs, engaging layout and fascinating facts. The book explores everything from rocks and gemstones to fossils and plate tectonics, bringing Earth science to life in a way that is both informative and exciting.

The overall winner of the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize 2026 was The Wild Life of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals by award-winning author Mike Barfield, illustrated by Paula Bossio.

Why not borrow one of these brilliant books and discover a new area of science? You might even find a new favourite!
