Our immersive curriculum helps children grow into confident learners ready for life in modern Britain. We offer a broad and balanced range of subjects in line with the National Curriculum, including English, mathematics, science, computing history, geography, design technology, art and design, music, drama, dance, physical education, languages, religious education and PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education).
Mathematics and physical education are taught as discrete subjects, so children can build strong skills and understanding. Our other subjects are brought together through a creative theme-based approach which helps children make meaningful links in their learning and keeps them engaged.
At Loughton School we promote British values fairness and equality in everything we do. These are woven through our PSHE curriculum our assemblies and our daily life as a caring and inclusive school community.

Our close links with Loughton Manor and Glastonbury Thorn feeder schools ensure that our year 3 curriculum builds on the knowledge which pupils have learnt previously, helping them to know more and remember more. The curriculum is purposefully planned and then personalised to cater for all children. We continue to set challenging and enjoyable work at an appropriate level for pupils’ ability throughout their time with us.
With each termly year group newsletter, we send our parents/carers the appropriate topic web for their child's year group via ParentMail, but if you would like to download these at any other time of the year please just click on the appropriate topic web below.
These have now been updated for 2025-26.

We use 'insight' as our assessment tracking system and share all judgements made with parents at our parent consultation evenings and in the end-of-year report for their child. Our teacher assessments are informed by test results.
Please see some of our key documents relating to the curriculum below. If you would like to find out more about our curriculum, please contact the school on 01908 665971.
